We pitched the main outline of the idea for our music video but received negative feedback from our teacher. The understanding was that the 'pop' feel to our music video would prove to be more of a challenge as we did not want to produce a 'cheesy' video. The ideas that we had planned for the music video for the song 'Haven't Met You Yet' by Michael Buble involved a great deal of using the lyrics in the song to work with the visuals that we would have produced. As we used the ideas and plot in the official video for the song as inspiration, to get a feel for what type of video the song would actually have; both our own ideas and what we would have actually been able to achieve seemed very basic in comparison. The official music video for the song is quite basic anyway, but as a group of A level students we would not have a wide range of materials and locations available to us.
We explained the main elements to our music video and were asked for more detail where appropriate, and were expected to be able to explain ourselves both fully and confidently.
This idea, in reflection now, seems to have been a rough idea of making a music video. It was a combination of both myself and my groups ideas thrown together. We all ideas to include in making a music video, despite taking into consideration the genre with which we were dealing, and we assembled all of these ideas into one video, without having taking deep thought into what visuals the type of music video would suit or need.
The effect of having negative feedback from the pitch of our first idea for making a music video was that we went away afterwards and looked, as a group, in more depth, at the genre that we would be able to use most effectively.
